IMPORTANT: WE OFFER TWO TYPES OF IC SOCKETS— MACHINE PIN TYPE, AND DUAL WIPER TYPE.
We recognize that DIY builders have different opinions on which type is the best; there are legitimate arguments on both sides of the question.
In December 2020 we transitioned from using the machine pin type to the dual wiper type for our synthCube kits, primarily based on our experience with the two types.
To be clear, we have not experienced a notable difference in quality or long term result between the types, as long as genuine factory parts are used.
Both types suffer from moderately higher failure rates when ‘off brand’ sockets are used in place of ‘name brand’
