FuzzDog Blenda
We aim to please, with some pedalboard real-estate savings right here....
The Fender Blender offered some crazy-nasty fuzz tones in a not so handy sized box. Of course, there's been a recent surge in interest due to the release of the limited edition Shields Blender. Having spent the wedge on one of those beauties we were reaquainted with this beast's charms - and shortcomings. Truth be told, it's incredibly unlikely you're going to find a setting on this thing that works well in both standard and 'tone expand' modes. Without the expand mode engaged it's quite muffled and, frankly, not great. Even on the new bells-and-whistles release.
So we've ditched the second footswitch and made it a board-friendly single switch vertical box. You can still flip between modes, but with a toggle instead of a footswtich. Or you could go the whole hog and ditch the switch, leaving it in expand mode all the time.
Our two-switch version (linked below) gives you the option to have the tone expand mode as per the original release (sweet) or the later reissue (terrible - someone had better have lost their job over that error), but we've ditched that on this version. Original is the only way to go.
The kit is supplied with vertical-mount pots which have round shafts, so you'll need set-screw fitting knobs.
