Fuzz Dog Necropolis
"Special kit that includes hand-measured germanium transistors."
Is there anything better on a board than a Tone Bender? But which one to go for? They all have their merits and sound different enough to warrant several spots on the floor.
Enter the Necropolis - your handy multi-Bender.
Fuelled by three NPN germanium cans (or silicon if you want - totally up to you), so it works on your standard polarity supply without any faff.
Standard Vol and Attack controls are joined by a Tone pot - shades of the Mk III. Add in the Feed control, which drops the voltage as you wind it back, and you have a multitude of sounds to pick from.
Now, the switches. The lower is Tone Bypass, if you want to keep things pure. This was a footswitch on the original, but what's that about? Feel free to wire it offboard if you think that's useful on the fly.
...and the magic - the circuit switch in the middle. This takes the first stage transistor out of the mix, giving you a two-can Mk 1 and Mk 1.5 to play with. That's where the Feed pot comes into it's own.
